EVENT INFORMATION:

Bill Schneider of Higganum has kindly consented to open his acclaimed New York Ontario and Western HO layout for Nutmeg visitors on Saturday, May 12th from 1pm to 4pm.

Bill has packed an extraordinary amount of finely detailed prototypical modeling of the “Old and Weary” in a small second-story bedroom of his home. Tony Koester mentions Bill’s layout in his “Trains of Thought” column which appeared in the May 2012 issue of “Model Railroader”. Koester also comments very favorably on Bill’s layout in his book “Designing and Building Multi-Deck Model Railroads”, (Kalmbach Books, 2008).

Because space in the layout room is limited and can comfortably accommodate only about five visitors at a time, it is possible there may be a bit of a wait, depending on the time at which visitors arrive, but the opportunity to see the layout at first hand and to meet Bill should be well worth the effort.

Bill has also created an excellent website concerning the NYO&W and his modeling of it – why he chose to model it, how he conducted his research, and what portion of the railroad he selected for modeling. The web address is:
