10:00 AM 10:50 AM Clinic #1 - 3D Printing, Model Railroading, Stages of Love, and You
    Presented by Dave Ackmann
Our Clinician, Dave Ackmann, a member of the Gateway Division of the NMRA in St Louis, will propose that 3D printing is like Stages of Love: Expensive, Complex but can be Highly Rewarding. It’s not to be entered lightly, as it is as complex as DCC. Dave will disclose what he believes is the most important consideration in buying a 3D printer. He shows where he goes for 3D models of HO structures that are now on his layout. He names filament brands that work for him, and those that didn’t. Dave will show how he used TinkerCAD to design building interiors for random room lighting. He describes what to do when the printer inevitably clogs. Dozens of successful projects will be shown.
11:00 AM 11:50 AM Clinic #2 - Amazing Arduino Animations
      Presented by Dave Ackmann
Want more animated scenic action on your model railroad? It’s time you discover Arduinos! Arduinos are inexpensive microprocessors, computers which can control LEDs, MP3 players and small motors to create off-line animated effects. This clinic will teach you how to include flashing lights on emergency vehicles and randomly illuminate buildings. Create a lumberjack felling a tree, a waterfall, and a musical carousel, all complete with sound and movement. You will learn how to create a speedometer for a loop of track. Don’t worry about programming an Arduino because this clinic provides all the code for free. Come join the action of Amazing Arduino Animations!
Departure Time ~12:00 PM -- We do not have any layouts scheduled for this meeting.
